        Route 82 closed both ways in Union Township as water main break repairs continue

        News 12 is told that Route 82 (Morris Avenue) will remain closed in both directions until the completion of the repair which was expected to happen before rush hour this morning.

        Water continues to flow freely on Route 82 (Morris Avenue) in Union Township this morning as New Jersey American Water crews continue to repair a stubborn break.
        News 12 is told that Route 82 (Morris Avenue) will remain closed in both directions until the completion of the repair which was expected to happen before rush hour this morning.
        Detours still set up, include:
        Route 82 eastbound Detour:
        • Motorists on Route 82/Morris Avenue eastbound will be directed to turn left onto Stuyvesant
        Avenue
        • Turn right onto Vauxhall Road
        • Turn right on Salem Road back to Route 82/Morris Avenue eastbound
        Route 82 westbound Detour:
        • Motorists on Route 82/Morris Avenue westbound will be directed to turn right onto Salem Road
        • Turn left onto Vauxhall Road
        • Turn left onto Stuyvesant Avenue back to Route 82/Morris Avenue
        American Water says that at this time there is no customer impact but some in Union and Elizabeth may experience reduced water pressure and discolored or cloudy water during the repair.
