Route 53 South remains closed in Denville following a water main break under an Interstate 80 overpass.
The break happened early Monday morning and has since been repaired. The roadway remains closed. The Route 46 eastbound ramp to Route 53 South is also closed and drivers are being detoured.
The northbound lanes of Route 53 are open.
The road closures left some motorists in the area frustrated.
“There is always traffic, there's always construction going on. I am so sick of seeing the cones every day of my life,” said Rockaway resident Melissa Flynn.
Officials said that the repairs on Route 53 could last into Tuesday night. As of 10 p.m., the roadway remained closed.
