A vehicle fire along the northbound side of Route 287 has caused a shutdown at Exit 1, the Edison township advises.

The vehicle fire occurred at Exit 2A, according to the advisory.

The township advises drivers to plan on taking an alternate travel route.

Route 27 is also shut down between Vineyard Road and Bridge Street in Metuchen due to the fire.

No additional information has been released regarding the fire.
