Rockland County has a new human rights commissioner.
County Executive Ed Day announced the appointment of Michelle Walker following an extensive recruitment process.
Walker brings 25 years of experience in government and social services to the position.
Most recently, she served as a program administrator for Westchester County Government.
Before that, Walker was the director of the Family Justice Center.
Her appointment was confirmed by the Rockland County Legislature.
County officials say Walker's background in public service and community programs will help guide the Human Rights Commission's work moving forward.
