Ever had a robot make your morning latte?
At Bot and Brew in Cromwell, that’s exactly what happens.
The coffee shop’s star employee isn’t human. It’s a robot barista named Janice.
Once an order is placed on an iPad, Janice carefully crafts everything from lattes and matcha drinks to vanilla steamers and iced beverages.
“It’s the first one in Connecticut,” said owner Crystal Sosa, who says visitors are often amazed watching the robot at work. Using a computerized arm powered by air compressors, the robot grabs cups, pours ingredients and creates drinks with impressive consistency. Customers say it’s not just entertaining — it’s delicious.
“It tastes great,” and “It’s the best latte I’ve tasted in years,” were just a few of the reviews from visitors.
While some people worry about robots replacing workers, Sosa sees technology as a way to work alongside humans, not replace them.
The shop itself is just as eye-catching as the robot behind the counter. The colorful, artistic space was designed with the help of artist Paul Morado, creating an atmosphere that is as creative as the concept itself.
Customers call it innovative, fun and a glimpse into the future.
So, if you’ve never seen a robot make coffee before, Bot and Brew might be worth a Road Trip Close to Home.
As one customer put it: “You won’t believe your eyes.”
