A road in Westwood has reopened after emergency repairs to a large sinkhole that forced its temporary closure earlier this week.
The sinkhole, which developed in the middle of Harrington Avenue between Berkeley Avenue and Sand Road, prompted local officials and Westwood police to restrict traffic. During the closure, officers remained at the scene to assist with traffic control and direct parents dropping off and picking up students at Berkeley School.
Residents were advised to seek alternate routes while crews worked to repair the roadway and ensure the area was safe for motorists and pedestrians.
In a statement, Westwood police thanked residents and school families for their patience and cooperation throughout the repair process. On Friday, police confirmed that repairs had been completed and Harrington Avenue was fully open to traffic.
