Norwalk Mayor Barbara Smyth said the city has laid a strong foundation and is "just getting started" during her State of the City address.
In her remarks at the Norwalk Inn on Tuesday, Smyth highlighted challenges facing residents, including rising housing and grocery costs, while outlining efforts to improve school funding and strengthen the community.
The mayor said the city's success is measured by the opportunities it creates and the support it provides to children, families and seniors.
Since taking office on Jan. 2, Smyth said the city has paved more than 10 miles of roadway and six miles of sidewalk, improved drainage infrastructure to prepare for storms and secured additional state funding to support schools.
