Revolutionary war hero Sybil Ludington is returning to her hometown of Putnam County.
A statue of her has been restored as part of America's 250th anniversary. A procession of first responders brought the statue back to its home Friday.
According to family folklore, Ludington was just 16-years-old when she rode 40 miles on horseback in 1776 to alert American soldiers the British were attacking in Connecticut.
Putnam County Historian Jennifer Casidy says the story is challenged by many because there are not many primary sources about women in the army.
