Residents who live near a collapsed retaining wall in Ridgefield Park may be waiting a full year until repairs are complete.
Those who live in the Scott Court Apartment Complex, as well as residents in single-family homes on Overlook Avenue, have been told it will be at least a year before the collapsed retaining wall is repaired.
A portion of the wall that separates Overlook Avenue from a parking lot down below in the apartment complex
gave way on June 2.
Overlook Avenue was immediately closed to traffic.
After engineers inspected the damage, it was determined that Overlook will remain closed until further notice, and residents were informed that it will take at least 12 months to make the necessary safety repairs.
There is still no official word on what caused the portion of the retaining wall to give way.
