New Yorkers are participating in Dry January, a monthlong break from alcohol after the holidays.
At Barrio BX in Castle Hill, owners say they’re making mocktails to keep customers coming in.
"It's more of experience that you come here for. If you want a great cocktail, wonderful. If not, it's good," said owner Tony Martinez.
While some diners say they’re committed to an alcohol-free month, others say Dry January just isn’t for them.
"I've never had a Dry January. I've heard of No Shave November, but never Dry January," said one diner.
Whether customers go dry or not, Barrio BX owners say it is focused on food, culture and community. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday.
