Tenants living at 340 Alexander Ave. have been dealing with electrical issues within the common spaces of the building.
Lights in the hallways and staircases of various floors were completely off or partially functioning when News 12 went to the building on Tuesday.
Amanda Moreno said the lights were off in various hallways and staircases for a week before she reached out to News 12.
Moreno turned on her Christmas lights in the hallway to help her and neighbors see during the outage.
"The staircase was out in the whole building, the hallways were out on a whole building and there was literally no lights," said Moreno.
NYCHA released a statement to us about the issue, stating in part:
"NYCHA staff responded to an electrical outage affecting some public space lights at 340 Alexander Avenue over the weekend. Due to the complexity of the work required, a temporary repair was made to restore lighting, and NYCHA electricians are currently on-site to make the necessary permanent repairs"
Moreno fears that worse could happen if the lights aren't fully repaired soon.
"It's dangerous for all tenants that live in a building and somebody can get robbed or anything can happen, so NYCHA needs to make this a priority," shared Moreno.
