A Sunday night fire at the Rivermere North Apartment Building in Bronxville is still under investigation.
The fire impacted eight households, including 16 adults and three children, according to the Red Cross.
Eastchester fire officials say reports came in at around 10 p.m.
Eighteen firefighters arrived on scene and were advised of residents possibly trapped on the second, third and fifth floors.
The fire was located in a second-floor apartment.
Police say the building superintendent assisted a resident of the fire apartment down a ladder.
Firefighters also rescued a civilian from a third-floor apartment.
Both civilians were transported to the hospital.
According to the Red Cross, the fire affected eight households, including 16 adults and three children.
Officials say one person died, but the victim's identity has not been released yet.
