A celebration highlighting Dominican heritage was held Thursday at Gracie Mansion.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani and city leaders held a special reception highlighting Dominican heritage held at Gracie Mansionfor New Yorkers of Dominican descent.

Mamdani also paid tribute to the memory of Johanna Fernandez.

The Bronx native and daughter of Dominican immigrants, Fernandez devoted her life to sharing stories of Latino New Yorkers before her death in July.
