The rainy forecast for Memorial Day Weekend does not seem to be keeping the Jersey Shore visitors away. Travelers said they hit traffic Friday night up north along the Turnpike, and saw up to an eight-mile backup on the Parkway by Brick.
News 12 spoke with visitors headed to Avalon, Wall, Point Pleasant, Asbury Park, Seaside Heights and more.
The cold, rainy forecast means some are changing their plans once they arrive. The inaugural Seaside Heights vs. Seaside Park beach tug-of-war was postponed, along with the Bradley Beach Memorial Day Festival, but other events like the Spring Lake Five Mile Run are still on.
AAA is advising drivers to hit the road before noon over the rest of the weekend to avoid the worst traffic.
