Rain clears; beautiful, warm Mother's Day on the way

Drier and warmer weather on the way for the weekend.

The worst of the rain is now behind us and the flooding threat will be coming to an end.
More flood warnings on the Housatonic River are likely as we will see rises through Fairfield and Litchfield counties for the weekend.
The area of low pressure is starting to lift northward now and this will progress overnight.
Drier high pressure will be moving in on Saturday and winds will pick up out of the northwest of 10-15 mph.
Saturday morning starts off damp and gray, but the sky will clear by the afternoon.
Temperatures respond to the drier, sunnier weather and jump to near 70 on Saturday.
Mother's Day looks even warmer and this warmer trend stays into early next week.
The weather will gradually improve on Saturday. With the added sunshine, temperatures will rise into the upper 60s.
Sunday for Mother's Day looks the warmest and the better half of the weekend with highs in the 70s.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy, showers & thunderstorms. High 58.
SATURDAY: Early clouds and showers, mostly sunny. High 69.
SUNDAY: Sunny. High 72.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny. High 75.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny. Spotty showers. High 74.
