Keep an eye out for familiar streets and unsuspecting locals as “Impractical Jokers” kicks off its new season tonight with an episode filmed in Rahway.
The Union County municipality hosted the hijinks as the newest episode of the long-running hidden-camera prank series debuts its latest season premiere.
The City of Rahway posted about the show on its Facebook page.
“BIG NEWS, RAHWAY! We’re excited to announce that Rahway will be featured in the SEASON PREMIERE of Impractical Jokers! Even better — our segment was selected to open the entire season,” the city announced.
The show features a crew of comedians and friends who compete to successfully embarrass each other while unsuspecting members of the public look on and often become part of the pranks. The season premiere airs tonight at 10 p.m. on TBS.
“We can’t wait for everyone to see our amazing city featured on one of television’s funniest shows,” the city posted.
Rahway has been featured as the backdrop for numerous movies and television shows over the years, including “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Lock Up,” which used East Jersey State Prison as part of their set, and “School of Rock.” More recently, actor Billy Bob Thornton was spotted in the city in January filming the movie “Somedays.” Rahway is a certified Film Ready Community through the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission.
