A strong smell of pickle juice mixed with sewage filled the air early Tuesday after a sewer line broke in Wayne.Crews were called to Edison Drive in a business and industrial area, where a sewer line had corroded and failed, workers on scene said.

The line was carrying a large amount of pickle juice from a nearby business, Patriot Pickle, according to crews.

Wayne Department of Public Works workers moved quickly to repair the break.

Crews filled the damaged area with rocks and began patching the hole before paving work could be completed.

Police closed Edison Drive between Hanes Drive and Riverview Drive during the repairs.
