Police are searching for a man accused of stealing a puppy from a woman on the side of the road in Newark.

The incident happened last Tuesday around 5 p.m. on Merchant Street. Authorities say the man pulled up in a Mercedes SUV and asked the woman how much it would cost to buy her dog.

He then handed her gold chains, grabbed the puppy, put it in his car, and sped off.

The theft was caught on camera. Anyone with information is urged to contact Newark police.
