Tensions are once again on the rise outside an ICE detention center in Newark early Tuesday morning as officers moved in to clear protestor barricades.
The situation unfolded around 6:30 a.m. at Delaney Hall.
Officials say dozens of ICE officers arrived with an armored vehicle and began removing barriers set up by protesters.
Authorities say the barricades and nearby cement blocks were cleared and placed into a dumpster.
Demonstrators have continued gathering outside the facility, calling for detainees to be released and the center to close.
The developments follow unrest over the Memorial Day weekend.
Protesters say detainees inside remain on a hunger and labor strike.
U.S. Sen. Andy Kim was hit with pepper spray
during protests over the weekend.
