An Oceanside man was charged with murder after prosecutors say he ran over a motorcyclist, killing him in Queens in an act of road rage.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz says 42-year-old Jordan Rosen was indicted by a grand jury and charged in the April 5 death of a 55-year-old William McField.
According to charges, Rosen was driving an SUV on the eastbound exit ramp of the Long Island Expressway heading toward Woodhaven Boulevard. McField was on a motorcycle in the same area when both vehicles came into contact with one another. The victim passed Rosen on the exit ramp of the LIE, driving through a steady red light and around traffic southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard. Prosecutors say Rosen also ran through the red light and chased McField.
Rosen accelerated toward McField until the SUV struck the motorcycle, running over the vehicle and victim, according to the charges.
Rosen continued southbound on Woodhaven until he struck another motorist driving a Mazda CX-5. During the second collision, the motorcycle was still dragging beneath his car and burst into flames before Rosen's SUV came to a stop at a lamp post in the center roadway.
McField was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rosen was also indicted on criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle with a tinted window.
Rosen was remanded and ordered to return to court on Monday, April 28. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
News 12 reached out to Rosen's attorney but had not heard back as of Saturday evening.
