Construction is underway on two new jetties in Bay Head, funded entirely through private donations.

The jetties will be built first on Karge Street and then a few blocks south on Mount Street. The project is expected to cost just under $1 million, with all funding raised through local donations.

Bay Head Mayor Bill Curtis discussed the project as construction moves forward.

"The timber doesn't last. Rocks will stay here forever, and we think and know that this will help the flow of sand in a positive direction and that it is the right thing to do," said Curtis.
