A Hunterdon County man has pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing child sexual abuse material, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced Tuesday.

David Tuytjens, 70, of Tewksbury Township, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of possession of child pornography.

According to federal prosecutors, New Jersey State Parole Board officers visited Tuytjens' home in December 2024 because he was prohibited from possessing internet-capable devices while under Community Supervision for Life following a prior state conviction for aggravated sexual assault.

During the visit, officers found several electronic devices, including a 64-gigabyte microSD storage card containing at least 800 images and 30 video files depicting child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said. The material included images involving prepubescent children, infants or toddlers, and depictions of sadistic or masochistic conduct, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said Tuytjens also has a prior federal conviction for possession of child pornography. As a result, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years, along with a possible fine of up to $250,000.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2027.
