Kean missed more than 100 votes while recovering from an undisclosed medical issue, which prompted countless reports on his whereabouts and well-being. His absence could have national consequences in a district that is seen as a midterm battleground. His office says he is still running for reelection.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is reportedly backing down on a plan to convert a massive warehouse into a detention center in Roxbury. The New York Times reported that Homeland Security is planning to get rid of multiple warehouses across the country that are meant to serve as ICE jails. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson says the goal is to use "existing" detention facilities instead. The state and the Town of Roxbury fought the opening of the new facility in court, arguing it would strain local resources.

There was a federal oversight hearing in Newark about the conditions inside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility led by Congressional Democrats who then went inside the facility again.
