A family is searching for a Port Washington teen who has been missing for a week.

Rebecca Avazis says she drove her daughter, Ellie, to a friend’s house in Port Washington on Jan. 14 so that the two could walk to school together.

Instead of going to school, Avazis says Ellie and her friend ditched their phones and ran away together.

The friend has since come back home but Ellie has not.

“We love her. We want her to come home,” Avazis told News 12. She said she’s worried her daughter could be sex trafficked, that people may help her for “the wrong reasons.”

“I just can’t even go there," she says.
