The Port Chester Police Department held their annual food drive Sunday outside of Stop & Shop in Port Chester.
Shoppers were able to easily drop off items near the store entrance, sharing food and goodwill. The event has been held over two decades.
The Port Chester Police Department organizes the donated food into meal bags, which is then distributed to those in need.
The department partners with Don Bosco Community Center, Meals on Main Street, Port Chester Senior Center and other groups for the food drive each year. They'll also be holding their sixth annual Turkey Drive soon.
Last year, police gave away more than 500 turkeys – and expect to hand out even more this year.
Check the Port Chester Police Department Facebook page for more information about upcoming food drives.
