Port Chester native Kayleigh Heckel is scoring big on and off the court after being named the 2026 NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete for women's basketball.

Heckel stars at the University of Connecticut and leads the Huskies to the Final Four this weekend.

The NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete award honors the top GPA among athletes competing at the finals site across all NCAA championships.

Heckel has a 3.9 GPA, while averaging nearly seven points and three assists per game.
