A Black-owned business has shut down in Crown Heights.
Andre Fuller said he was forced to close Jenny on the Greens on Dec. 1, after the building was sold to a new owner who did not plan to renew his lease.
"It's not a good feeling," he said.
Fuller opened the business, which sold juices, smoothies and raw foods, on Franklin Avenue in 2021 to honor the legacy of his mother who died after a terminal cancer diagnosis.
"It literally was a lifestyle of hers that I turned into a business to help the community," he said.
The business quickly became a neighborhood staple, Fuller said his customers were like family.
He said he saw an outpouring of support when he put a sign in the window last month announcing he was closing.
Fuller said he plans to reopen and add coffee to the menu and is currently looking for a new location in the neighborhood.
He said he also wants to add community programs that can be held in the business so his space becomes one that welcomes everyone.
