A Wyandanch man has been arrested for allegedly posing as a police officer and trying to scam a 79-year-old woman from Muttontown.

Nassau police say Francisco Perozo Rodriguez called the woman and said her daughter had been arrested and needed cash for bail.

The woman realized it was a scam and called police. Detectives set up a cash pickup and arrested the 28-year-old when he arrived to collect the money.

Police say Rodriguez is charged with attempted grand larceny and he was arraigned Saturday at the First District Court in Hempstead.
