Officials say a woman was injured after being struck by a vehicle backing up on Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.
Police say she was walking through ShopRite parking lot and was hit by a vehicle backing up.
Officials say she had head and back pain afterward and that the driver did not stay on scene and may have fled.
Some people told News 12 that the area can be dangerous for drivers and shoppers, and they're urging drivers and people walking to be extra careful.
"I'm going 1 mph because of the cars. Cars pop up out of nowhere and secondly, the people come out with their package and don't see you, so I try to avoid this," says Raymond Ortiz, a Bronxville resident.
Police says they have a recording of the license plate and officers are investigating.
Officials say the woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
