Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo is warning residents about phone scammers.

The sheriff says they call and demand payment for outstanding warrants.

Once they know you are concerned, they'll try to keep you on the phone attempting to get personal and or financial information as well as some form of payment like crypto or gift cards.

Police are warning residents to not give up any information. The sheriff says his officer will never call demanding money for a warrant.
