Islam, who was fatally shot in July, left behind his two sons and pregnant wife.
An army of blue surrounded the boys as they made their way to the building.
Officers for the 47th Precinct told News 12 that it was important for them to show support.
“This is something that was done by Det. Islam. He would walk his children to school… This is something that stands for what we believe in,” said one officer.
