A 41-year-old man is dead and a police officer was injured during a situation this morning in Brownsville.
Police responded to Linden Boulevard and Thomas S Boyland Street for a shots-fired incident.
Police sources say a 41-year-old man fatally shot himself. Two police officers were at the scene – one of which was shot in the face. Police say that officer is in stable condition.
Details surrounding what happened have been scarce. It was not immediately clear how the situation unfolded or who shot the officer.
The NYPD will be holding a news conference around 11 a.m.
Citizen App video of the scene appeared to show three people taken out of a nearby building in handcuffs and a woman with a baby wrapped in a blanket being escorted out of the building by police officers.
Two armored trucks were seen along with a K-9 unit.
