An overnight shooting on the 600 block of Wethersfield Avenue left one dead and another injured early Sunday morning, police say. Hartford police identified the suspect as Chan Williams-Bey, accused of shooting and killing 24-year-old Jordan Phipps around 12:30 a.m. A second victim, who remains unidentified, was also shot and subsequently taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, Williams-Bey was previously out on bond for another murder case. He now faces several charges, including murder, assault, and criminal possession of a firearm. Williams-Bey is currently being held on a $5 million bond.
