A man is facing charges after police learned he was inside Ferguson Library in Stamford with a loaded firearm.
On Monday at 11:30 a.m., members of the department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad learned that Markiss Lindsay was inside the building and had the loaded gun in a backpack.
Nearly an hour later, officers located Lindsay on the first floor with two other men and had a black backpack.
Police searched the backpack and found a green-and-black Taurus G2C 9mm handgun that was loaded with a total of 12 rounds. The gun was safely secured.
Police say Lindsay does not have valid Connecticut pistol permit.
He was charged with illegal transfer of a firearm, pistol without a permit and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Lindsay is expected to appear in court Aug. 24.
