Police are searching for a suspect in connection with an armed home invasion. They say it happened at the intersection of E. 92nd Street and Avenue J in Canarsie around 8:25 a.m. Sunday.
Officials say the suspect posed as a delivery driver. They say he walked up to the home, rang the doorbell and forced his way inside. They say he used a gun to threaten a 36-year-old woman and a 29-year-old male who opened the door.
Police say the suspect struck the man in the head with the handgun and proceeded to demand money before attempting to remove items from the home.
The man ran away from the home when he was not able to take any items, according to police. They say the victim suffered a laceration and bruising but refused medical attention.
Residents say the attack has left them on edge.
"That's when I am walking to work, you don't think it can happen in your neighborhood," said Anita, a Canarsie resident.
Others say it's making them more anxious about accepting deliveries.
"You order something, I'm checking the app, making sure I know who it is, and I get the verification, otherwise I'm not opening the door for no one," said another resident, who declined to give his name.
Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and white sneakers.
