Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives say a woman was found dead in the Long Island Sound Monday evening.

Police say they responded to a call that reported a body floating in the Long Island Sound off Lloyd Harbor Road in Lloyd Harbor at 7:45 p.m.

The body of an adult female was recovered.

The identity of the woman and the cause of death are pending.
