And right now on News 12, take a look here. Multiple injuries reported following a pileup crash in Plainview. This crash happened on Old Country Road just before the evening rush. News 12's Antoinette Biordi is on scene right now with an update. And Antoinette, you spoke with a man who says he rushed in to help. That's right, Joe. As you can see here behind me, there's a pretty big accident scene right here. Police tell us that 7 cars in total were involved and 5 people are now in the hospital with minor injuries. Nassau police say one person who may have suffered a medical event was also taken to the hospital. No word yet on that person's condition. Now this accident happened around 2 o'clock here on Old Country Road near Margaret Drive right near the entrance for Route 1. in plain view. Several Nassau County police officers and detectives are on the scene trying to figure out how this accident happened. As you can see, there is a lot of damage to most of the cars, most of the 7 cars involved. Parsa Carini, who owns a physical therapy business right in front of where the accident happened, tells me that he heard a loud crash. He went outside to see if he could help, and he says he saw a man on the floor and medics giving him CPR. I just saw all the cars just kind of, you know, accord together one hitting the other, so they were all just waiting in traffic and unfortunately, you know, there was a loud puff of smoke and everybody's screaming so kind of ran out to try to help out and see what we could do. I just wanted to make sure there was no fire because I saw the smoke, but, um, a lot of commotion. And Nassau County crime scene unit, as you can see here on your screen, is on the scene. They're investigating, trying to determine the cause of this accident, and Old Country Road is closed at this point eastbound and westbound. I could tell you right from Route 135 to. Lane right near the main event and a gas station nearby so you can expect some traffic in this area in Plainview, Nassau County, Antoinette Bordi, News 12, Long Island. Yeah, and by the looks of things, Antoinette, that investigation, they're kind of in the thick of it right now, so, uh, good to probably avoid that area. Thank you for the latest tonight.
