Three men are accused of burglarizing four homes in the Muttontown and Old Westbury areas late last year.

Authorities say it took several agencies to make the arrests, including Customs and Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, working with Nassau County, Muttontown and Old Westbury police.

David Fernando Moreno Hernandez, Juan Pablo Orjuela-Saavedra and Ivan Stewar Ramirez-Villalobos, who are all from New Jersey, are charged with second degree burglary.

Nassau police say the men are in the U.S. illegally, from Colombia, and are part of what is called the South American Theft Group.

According to detectives, the suspects entered the houses by breaking rear windows and sliding glass doors when no one was home at night. Police have not yet released the locations of the homes.

While inside, they are accused of ransacking bedrooms in each house, taking jewelry, diamonds, gold, designer handbags, safes, family heirlooms and over $250,000.

Detectives say the investigation went on for nearly three months.

According to police, two of the suspects are being held at Nassau County police headquarters in Mineola for arraignments Friday.

The other suspect is in New Jersey, waiting to be extradited.
