Students are heading back to class a day after police say a 15-year-old boy was slashed by another teen Tuesday inside of a Williamsbridge high school.
According to the NYPD, the slashing at Evander Childs campus was one of three violent incidents between students across the city. Police say there were two other stabbings at schools in Manhattan and Queens.
Police say the 15-year-old boy was slashed in the back of the neck. When officials responded to the school on East Gun Hill Road, the boy refused medical attention but they did take another student into custody.
They say a 17-year-old boy was arrested and has since been charged with assault.
A spokesperson from the Department of Education released a statement saying, "The safety and wellbeing of our students is our absolute top priority. Violence has absolutely no place in our schools, and this behavior is unacceptable.”
It is unclear if there will be any extra safety measures Wednesday morning as students come in.
