A Plainfield man was sentenced to life in prison for the 2019 murder of another man in Newark.
Marcus Harris was convicted late last year of shooting Dax Rowland multiple times following an argument. Officials say the killing took place on March 16, 2019, at the intersection of Renner and Goodwin avenues.
Harris will be required to serve at least 63 years before he is eligible for parole, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
“While nothing can bring back Dax, we hope this sentence brings a sense of closure to the Rowland family,” Assistant Prosecutor Kristen Schirner wrote in a statement.
Officials say Harris had six prior criminal convictions as an adult for various crimes such as aggravated assault and burglary.
