Some relief is on the way for one community damaged from deadly flooding earlier this month.
The City of Plainfield is now allocating $5 million for flood recovery efforts, including funds for roads, sidewalks and other infrastructure damaged. The money will also cover labor and overtime cost for bulk pickups.
The city is obligated to pay it back over the next five years, but it cannot be used for individual property damage because of legal restrictions.
The city has created a separate fund for residents. Filing must be done by Aug. 1.
