Social media photos of a Chevy Corvette with a Suffolk County Police Department logo are getting a lot of attention.

The Long Island-based CMJ Enterprises who posted the images said they recently wrapped it for the department.

The back of the vehicle reads “DWI Seizure – Seized Under Suffolk County Local DWI Law.”

Several commented online that their tax dollars should not be spent on the car, but the company said the county did not pay for it.

“The county did not pay for this vehicle. We repeat, the county did not pay for this vehicle and in fact actually saved the tax payers money! They pay more for a regular patrol car than they did this!” the Lindenhurst company said in an online comment.

It is unclear who paid for the vehicle or what it will be used for.

Suffolk police tell News 12 that “an announcement about any new vehicle and its intended use would be forthcoming at a later date.”
