Hundreds of officers greeted the Perth Amboy police detective who was shot last week during an investigation in Rahway.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Office and New Jersey State PBA posted photos on social media showing pictures of Detective Salazar who was released Wednesday from the hospital. Authorities say he is now home with his family as he continues to recover.
"He [Salazar] still has a long road ahead. So thankful for his recovery," NJSPBA shared on X.
Police say Salazar was shot three times during a shootout on Broad Street while serving an arrest warrant for a man wanted for aggravated assault.
Multiple people were arrested and charged. It’s unclear who fired the shots that hit Salazar.
