A person died after they were hit by multiple vehicles on I-95 in Stamford Wednesday, state police say.

Police say at 6:24 a.m., a person was in the right lane on I-95 north, just before Exit 6, when they were hit by the first vehicle.

The victim was thrown to left part of the highway.

Police say the person was then struck by two other vehicles.

All three vehicles left the scene.

Police say a fourth vehicle that merged from the central lane into the left lane was unable to avoid hitting the person.

That vehicle became disabled and the driver stayed on scene.

The victim, who has not been unidentified, sustained fatal injuries.

Police say they have not been able to obtain any information on the three vehicles that left the scene.
