President Trump will be speaking at Rockland Community College in Suffern Friday afternoon.
This is the first time a sitting president has come to Rockland County since President Ford 50 years ago.
People from all over the Hudson Valley, as well as northern New Jersey, began lining up Friday morning, waiting to get into the Eugene Levy Fieldhouse, where the event is taking place. The gymnasium can fit a little more than 5,000 people.
Trump is here for a campaign event for Republican Congressman Mike Lawler. The visit comes ahead of Rep. Lawler's re-election midterm race for New York's 17th Congressional District, which is said to be one of the most competitive in the country.
At today's event, President Trump is expected to talk about economic policies and the recent increase in the SALT cap.
A protest is happening at a local park nearby.
