A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Thursday morning while crossing a street in Newark.

Police responded around 8:11 a.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck near Vanderpool Street and Elizabeth Avenue.

The driver remained at the scene.The woman was taken to University Hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
