Mayor: Man killed in Paterson house fire

Officials say no one was living inside the home during the time of the fire, but someone was apparently staying inside the house.

A man died in an overnight fire in Paterson on Mercer Street, according to Mayor Andre Sayegh.
The man has not been identified yet.
Officials say no one was living inside the home during the time of the fire, but someone was apparently staying inside the house.
There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
"The city of Paterson is in mourning this morning," Sayegh wrote on his Facebook page. "Our firefighters worked feverishly to contain the fire and prevented any further loss of life."
