A Park Slope day care director was indicted Wednesday, accused of embezzling over $2.75 million in tuition payments, the United States Attorney’s Office says.

Murielle Misczak, 43, an employee at KinderHaus, allegedly used the funds she stole over the course of nearly four years on tickets to professional wrestling events, luxury goods and rideshare services.

Prosecutors say Misczak began working at KinderHaus as a program coordinator in 2013 and was promoted to director in 2020. She allegedly racked up the money from January 2022 to October 2025.

According to court documents, Misczak directed parents to send tuition payments to unapproved accounts under her control before transferring the funds to her personal bank accounts. She then took steps to hide the theft from the day care by deleting and altering information in its accounting systems, according to the documents.

Misczak allegedly used over $650,000 for travel and entertainment, including over $350,000 on tickets for professional wrestling events, more than $150,000 on rideshare services and a similar amount on food delivery services.

Prosecutors say she spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on “high-end luxury goods and other miscellaneous personal expenses.”

“As alleged, Misczak abused her position of authority and betrayed the trust of her employer and daycare families by stealing millions in tuition to fund her own extravagant personal lifestyle,” said U.S. Attorney Nocella. “Our Office will vigorously prosecute corrupt individuals like the defendant who seek to enrich themselves at the expense of services for children.”

Misczak is charged with wire fraud, money laundering and engaging in monetary transactions in criminally derived property. She pleaded not guilty.

Misczak was released on a $200,000 bond, ordered to wear a GPS monitor and issued a home curfew.
