Paramus has declared a local state of emergency after a major storm caused extensive damage across the borough.
Mayor Chris DiPiazza announced the emergency declaration as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
Officials have also imposed a ban on street parking until further notice to allow emergency crews to safely access roads and damaged areas.
Residents and visitors are being urged to stay away from downed trees and power lines.
Officials said all downed wires should be treated as live and dangerous.
The declaration comes as forecasters warn that additional storm systems could move through the area within the next 24 hours.
DiPiazza said the state of emergency was issued to protect residents, visitors and first responders.
Officials are directing residents to the Paramus Police Facebook page for updates, road closures and information about when the parking ban will be lifted.
