Bayonne will celebrate its Little League World Series team with a parade Sunday, honoring Bayonne Central Little League's historic run to the international tournament and top-six finish in the nation.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 30th Street and Avenue C and make its way to the Little League facility at 1st Street and Kennedy Boulevard. A ceremony will be held at the end of the parade route.
The event will feature two floats carrying the players and coaches.
Despite the defeat, the team returned home after earning two wins at the Little League World Series, winning a state championship and finishing as one of the top six Little League teams in the nation.
The team
received a hero's welcome when it returned home Aug. 26, escorted into the city by police and firefighters as residents lined the streets before gathering at the Little League facility.
